Move to Your Own Rhythm
Hey friends! Finding your rhythm is like mastering a wondrous waltz – it’s about moving in harmony with yourself. When you start moving to your own rhythm, you might feel out of sync. That’s the point. By choosing a path that seems right to you, even if it’s slower or more unconventional than the norm, you can create a life that is harmonious, rather than just noisy.
We are expected to hit milestones-career, marriage, homeownership-at a specific cadence, however, dancing to the beat of someone else’s drum, only leads to exhaustion and a lack of authenticity, your personal rhythm is influenced by your biology, your passions and your circumstances; it is unique to you.
It took me a while to figure out my rhythm, this is laughable because it was there all along and should have been obvious to me. I didn’t know I had a rhythm, but my mother did. Growing up she always made the comment that I got dressed ‘at night’, (it was really in the evening time), but she was on to something. She had noticed something about me that I didn’t; she was figuring out my rhythm. Just before the sun went down, when the day started cooling down, I would come alive and it was as if I became a different person. As I got older, I came to realize that this is a part of my rhythm. My mornings are slow, my days even slower, but late afternoon, I bloom!
We all have a rhythm, to identify it, you must first quiet the noise.
Listen to your energy: are you a morning lark or a night owl? Don’t fight your natural peaks and valleys.
Audit your ‘shoulds’: Identify which parts of your routine are fueled by genuine desire and which are performed out of social obligation
Embrace the pause: Growth often happens in the rests between the notes. Silence is not empty; it is where your next move is composed.
PERSONAL WELLNESS: Finding Your Own Tempo
In the world of wellness we are often told what to eat, how much and when. This is true not just for food but there seems to be a prescribed method for every aspect of our lives, mostly based on the latest viral study. But true vitality comes from personalized wellness, where your age, stress levels and natural energy peaks dictate your routine.
Understanding your body’s own rhythm makes diet and exercise more effective and beneficial to you. You are more prone to doing the things you enjoy doing, at the pace you prefer doing them and doing them at the time that is more convenient for you. Instead of punishing yourself, pleasure yourself by establishing a routine that is tailor made by you, and is just right for you!
