Embracing Solo Time: Me Time, Where Self-Care Begins

Where Petals Unfold, Hearts Flourish

Hey Lilies! Solo time is a gift – let’s explore the beauty of being alone. Alone time can sometimes have a negative stigma attached to it. Please note that there is a distinct difference between being alone and chronic loneliness. While chronic loneliness is a threat to our health, solitude can have the opposite effect. Let’s re-write the narrative; being alone does not mean that you’re lonely, especially when this is being done by choice. There are positive benefits to be derived from setting aside time for solitude. It’s a time set aside to be free from the demands of others. Solo time reduces the chances of being alone, because having some me time can reduce episodes of irritability and stress, born from feeling overwhelmed and over reaching. Studies have shown that just 15 minutes of solitude can help lower intense emotions, whether they are positive (excitement) or negative (anxiety), leading to a peaceful state of being.

Self-love time is important and precious to me. I treasure the times I get to spend by myself. I use those moments to do things that help me with my self-care goals. Sometimes I give myself a pedicure, sometimes I spend time in my closet, looking for clothes that I haven’t worn in a while, and putting outfits together. Other times, I test out baking recipes that I have collected. Many of the things I do in my daily routine, were contrived and planned during the time spent by myself, with myself.

Solo time allows me to exhale and it gives birth to new ideas and goals.
