EMBRACING YOUR SPACE: Make Space Make Peace
Hey friends! Does your space invite you to come in and linger awhile? Or do you avoid certain areas of your home because it’s too cluttered and confusing? Make space for what matters. Our environment is a reflection of our inner state. A cluttered space often leads to a “cluttered mind”, while an organized one can foster mental clarity and a sense of control.
Let’s make your home your retreat, a sanctuary. Start by looking around at the things you have to look at (or try not to look at) as you move around your space. Do they spark your interest? Do they bring a smile, do they invite you to pause and touch them from time to time?
Surround yourself with beloved items that increase your quality of life, rather than just filling empty space with things that have no sentimental value or things that do not speak to who you are. Your space should inspire, should uplift, should empower, not just you, but others also
The process of decluttering your space might lead to self discovery and new passions. I didn’t realize how much I loved house plants until someone suggested that I buy a plant, to fill a sunlit corner of my living room. I did and over time it grew many new shoots, giving me no option but to divide the plants and repot them. This continued and has multiplied, filling the spaces in my home with beauty and life. I’ve received many compliments for them and have even given away a few of them.
Start small, start with decluttering one drawer or a closet at a time, let go of items that no longer add value. Make room for what is truly precious.
Also equally important is what takes up space in your mind. Be intentional about what you allow to enter and remain there. You are a reflection of what occupies your thoughts. Train your mind to dispose of negative, unprofitable, painful thoughts.
Renew your thought pattern by having a preset idea to replace a negative memory when it surfaces, so for instance when a painful memory resurfaces, recognize it and start thinking about something else, like the ingredients you will need for a recipe you plan to try or which project you will be starting next in the process of decluttering your personal space, (or something similar).
BENEFITS OF A CALMING PERSONAL SPACE

Better Habits ~ Research suggests people in neat environments are more likely to make healthier choices, such as choosing an apple over a chocolate bar.
